This 20 days of nature & cultural photography is an overwheming full service mobile photo safari giving your camares an insight of ‘best of the best’ Uganda wildlife, landscape, culture  and great flora & fauna. The tour takes you through some of best photography destinations in the countryside blending it with unique African cultures & cultural sites.

The tour starts from exploring the hidden gems in the southwest to the far northeast of the country. The safari will take you to the smallest savannah national park in the country, Lake Mburo National park which is underlain by ancient Precambrian metamorphic rocks then continues to Bwindi Impenetrable national park, home to half of the remaining giant apes.

Visiting the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat is an adventurous experience worth a shot. In this same national park you embark on a cultural trail with the first people to arrive in Uganda 3000yrs ago called the Batwa people. you will also interact & socialize with them. They are slightly similar in appearance to the Khoisan of Southern Africa.

The safaris proceeds to Queen Elizabeth national park to sight a wide diversity of game and later to  Kibale national park probably the park with the highest population of primates in the world. It will proceed to the northwest to visit Murchison falls national park which is the oldest & largest national park in Uganda, then continue far northeast to Kidepo valley national park, one of the most isolated national parks on the African continent and get closure encounters with pure nature and rare African culture “Karamajongs”.

These Karamajongs are slightly similar in appearance with masaai’s of Kenya. The safari still takes you to Pian Upe wildlife reserve. It’s  was derived from the karamajong local dialect & it means “Friendly Enemy”. Pian Upe reserve is home to a wide diversity of wildlife like zebras, greater kudu, dik dik, Rothschild giraffe, lions, roan antelope, leopards to name a few. Pian Upe is also home to enormous rock pythons, venomous puff adders, a diversity of birdlife e.t.c. conclude your safari with a kampala city sighting & walking safari.

DAY 1:- Entebbe area, Camping

Upon your arrival in Uganda at Entebbe airport, your guide will pick you and give a full safari briefing and take you shopping for your safari drinks then head to your designated campsite.  Depending on your flight details, the first highlight of your safari will be a sunset boat cruise or nature walk & relaxation. Camping will be at Botanical gardens Entebbe at a camp-site with permanent ablutions.

DAY 2:- Entebbe to Lake Mburo national park

After breakfast, you will embark on 3hours drive to Lake Mburo National Park and on arrival at your designated campsite bush lunch will be served & after embark on safari boat cruise on Lake Mburo to get quite close to the Nile crocodiles and hippos. More than 250 species of birds are found in Lake Mburo namely Papyrus Gonolek, Brown faced Lapwing. Carruther’s Cisticola, the extraordinary White winged Warbler and Bare-Faced-Go- Away bird and during the boat ride some of these bird species are spotted. Return to the campsite for some relaxation and later go for an evening game drive along the Lakeshore track. With its own system of game trails and cleared walkways the “Kigambara Loop” offers interesting guided lakeside walks. Find here herds of zebra, Cape buffalo and eland. Oribi and topi are easily approached. Return to the camp for dinner & overnight.

DAY 3:- Lake Mburo to Bwindi Impenetrable national park.

After your bush breakfast, proceed for a walking safari under the escort of a ranger guide. The leisurely pace of a walking safari also provides excellent opportunities for the keen photographer. The Kopjes are particularly interesting and camouflage kilpspringers and topis. Due to cattle herding in the area it is amusing to see zebra grazing alongside the long horned Ankore Cattle peaceably. Later return to campsite & embark on a 5hours drive through the “Switzerland of Africa” area known as the Kigezi Highlands with its terraced hillside and winding roads to Bwindi. Lunch is en-route and arrive at the designated campsite for some relaxation, dinner & overnight.

DAY 4:- Gorilla trekking

This is a big long waited day when you will come a cross the endangered gentle giants, mountain gorillas that only exist in Uganda, DRC & Rwanda. After an early morning forest breakfast take with you packed lunch & gather at the briefing point then you will later  head to the forest in search of the giant apes. This is one of the best activities that you will never forget and is for 2-8 hrs depending on the movement of the gorillas. It involves hiking descending down the valleys & maneuvering the way through thicket before coming in direct contact with gorillas. One hour is at your disposal to maximize your experience with the gorillas, socialize and gaze at them. The experience is rewarding & breathtaking, Later return to camp for relaxation, dinner & overnight

DAY 5:- Batwa cultural trail

This day is a cultural trail in the gorilla home and we get to do a cultural trail. After your forest breakfast head out for a guided 5-6hrs cultural trail through the Batwa community. You will learn their traditional medical plants, sight out the tree house,  their hunting techniques to name a few. The Batwa women will treat you to impressive performance including their ancient dances & songs. It is a moment of wonder exploration into the Batwa people and later return to your campsite for lunch, relaxation, dinner & overnight.

DAY 6:- Bwindi to Queen Elizabeth national park

Wake up with a sunrise & have your forest breakfast & you get ready to embark on a drive to Queen Elizabeth national park which is home to over 95 mammal species & over 600 bird species passing  through the Ishasha sector. This sector is well know for the beautiful tree climbing lions. You will arrive in time for your bush lunch  &  after embark on a 2 hours evening game drive in Uganda’s prime game viewing region to stand a chance of nocturnal animals like the bush buck, Lions e.t.c, buffaloes, elephant herds. Return to your designsted  private campsite with bush ablutions. Relax around the camp,  later dinner will be served & overnight.

DAY 7:- Game drives & Kazinga Channel boat cruise.

Before sunrise, rise up for your bush breakfast at the camp and then go for an early morning game drive in the Kashenyi sector remarkable for it’s great game like Elephants, buffaloes, bush pigs, Uganda Kobs to name a few. Return to campsite for relaxation, bush lunch and light afternoon lunch. Get ready to embark on a safari  boat cruise on Kazinga Channel for 2 hours & then in the late afternoon return to campsite for dinner & get set for a 2hrs night game drive overnight.

DAY 8:- Queen Elizabeth to Kibale Forest National park.

Wake up with a sunrise & have your bush breakfast as you watch the camp assistants dismantle the tents & after set off for 2hour Katwa explosion crater drive to view the crater lakes in Queen Elizabeth as you exist the park. Your will have the opportunity for some great photos on this scenic drive which will give you most rewarding scenery of the park, craters, Lake Edward and Lake George, Rwenzori mountains to name a few. Embark on a 2-3hours drive to Kibale forest national park travelling on the slopes of the Rwenzori mountains. Cross the Equator on your way to Kibale forest. Lunch en-route & in the late afternoon arrive at your campsite with permanent ablutions for relaxation, dinner & overnight.

DAY 9:- Chimpanzee tracking & Evening nature walk

After breakfast you will be transferred to the briefing point for short briefing on the rules of chimpanzee tracking. Kibale forest is known to be the primate capital because of the greatest variety & highest concentration of primates in Africa. The forest host about 13 primate species  including the chimpanzee. The trek lasts for about 2-3hrs and provides the opportunity to see variety of forest birds, primates, butterflies and great flora & fauna. You then return to the campsite for relaxation & lunch.  Later in the evening head out for a rewarding nature walk in the Bigodi swamp to sight a variety of birds  & monkeys. You will then return to the designated campsite for dinner & overnight.

DAY 10:- Kibale forest to Murchison falls national

After an early morning breakfast, embark on a long 9hrs drive to Murchison falls national park. This is not an ordinary journey, it’s a rewarding drive which involves driving through the lush countryside dotted by amazing features of mother nature including the sights of the Albertine rift valley from Butyaba escarpment. The farmed landscapes bring out the typical African villages in Uganda. Lunch will be en-route in Hoima town then proceed with the drive which will see you arrive in Murchison falls national park in the late afternoon at the designated campsite with permanent ablution.

DAY 11:- Nile delta & White Nile safari boat cruises & night game drive

Early in the morning have your breakfast & after head out to explore Murchison falls where the mighty white Nile squeezes it’s self through an 8m wide gorge and plunges with a thunderous roar into the “Devil’s Cauldron” and then later embark on a drive to the jetty for a Nile delta cruise for about 2-3hrs. The Victoria Nile delta is a 20km voyage downstream from Paraa and is home to rare wetland birds including shoebill & papyrus endemic species. The boat will leave you around the delta point & your guide will transfer you to your designated private campsite with bush ablutions for lunch and in the afternoon embark on a drive to the jetty for a white Nile safari boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. . This 2-3hrs boat cruise to the bottom of Murchison falls reveals plenty of wildlife such as hippos, Nile crocodiles & water birds along the river banks to name a few. Later return to your campsite with game drive en-route for relaxation, dinner & night game drive. This 2hrs night game drive is one of the rewarding game drives to try out. A lot of night wildlife is exposed to you for viewing like the bush bucks, lions, the night jars, kobs to name a few then after return to your campsite for overnight.

DAY 12:- Game drives

An early morning call from the one of the camp assistant will get up before the sunrise. Grab your self an early morning bush breakfast at the camp and get ready for a half day game viewing on the northern part of the park. Exploring this largest & oldest national park in Uganda is a breathtaking experience. Plenty of game will be spotted on your game drive among which are oribi, Rothschild giraffe, Elephant, warthog, reedbuck, Lion among others. Return to camp for bush lunch & relaxation. In the late afternoon embark on another game drive to stand another chance to sight more game in it’s natural habitat and later in the evening return to the campsite for dinner, relaxation and overnight.

DAY 13:- Murchison falls to Kidepo national park

This is our last day in Murchison falls, we get to wake up with the sunrise, enjoy our bush breakfast in this savannah grassland whilst watching the camp assistants dismantle the tents and pack them for our next destination then do a game drive en-route as we embark on a 6hrs drive far northeast of the country to Kidepo Valley national park. This is not an ordinary journey, it’s a rewarding drive which involves driving through the lush countryside dotted by amazing landscapes as we head into the mountainous terrain before reaching Kidepo Valley national park. We arrive at our designated campsite in time for our bush lunch, relaxation and later in the evening we embark on an evening game drive across Kidepo Valley national park to stand a chance of sighting some game this isolated park has to offer. Later return to campsite for dinner & overnight.

DAY 14:- Game drives

This is going to be a long day of wilderness. Rise up before sunrise, grab yourself a heavy breakfast & go for an early morning game drive for half day. We get to feel and enjoy the diverse ecosystem of this park and the wilderness it holds. A game drive in this park will grant you another opportunity to view the great flora & fauna the park holds and stand another chance to sight elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, dik dik, herds of buffaloes,hills, dry river beds to name a few. Then in the afternoon return to the campsite for some relaxation & bush lunch. In the evening head back into the wild for an evening game drive at the Narus valley which attracts a number of game. After this outstanding game drive return to the campsite for dinner, relaxation and overnight.

DAY 15:- Game drive & Nature walk.

Wake up early in the morning & grab yourself a heavy breakfast at the camp then embark on another half day wilderness game drive whilst watching the sunrise over the Morongole mountains across Kidepo Valley national park. Look out for some of the best game in Africa that are inhabited here. This game drive will give us another chance to visit the Narus valley in the search of elands, buffaloes, giraffes, lions to name a few. Later return to the campsite for bush  lunch & embark on scenic nature walk which will lead you to the Karamajong communities in their manyatta huts whilst watching game on foot. This is a captivating nature walk for those who enjoy looking into the African culture. Discover the unique culture of these people just outside Kidepo Valley National Park. Their main livelihood is keeping livestock & the social & cultural importance will be explained as you take on a guided walk to the traditional homesteads. Learn how the local people make their distinctive beads & also get cattle enclosures. Return in the evening for your dinner, relaxation & overnight at the campsite.

DAY 16:- Kidepo Valley national park to Pian Upe

Today after your last bush breakfast in Kidepo Valley national park, embark on a 6hrs drive to Pian Upe wildlife reserve for another wildlife & nature walk encounters. You will arrive at the reserve in time for you bush lunch at the campsite. Pian Upe is one of the best kept secrets in Uganda with so much to offer to. Expect to sight roan antelopes, dik dik, savannah birds, cheetahs, Ostriches, buffaloes, Rothschild to name a few. On arrival after your bush lunch embark on a nature walk to get close encounter of game on foot and also pass through a cultural community to sight & learn the ways of people that live here. In the evening  return to the campsite for dinner, relaxation & overnight.

DAY 17:- Game drives

Wake up in the middle of the action before sunsrise, have yourself a bush breakfast & embark on morning game to stand a chance of sighting roan antelopes, buffaloes, patas monkeys also the big cats like cheetahs on a hunt, Jackals, Hyenas, Uganda kobs, aardvart, velvet monkeys to name a few. For bird lovers Pian Upe is a birder’s paradise hosting about 240 bird species among which are the Ostriches making it second to Queen Elizabeth national park.  Return to the campsite for bush lunch, relaxation and late in the evening head back to the wild for an astonishing game drive to sight more game. You will return to the campsite for dinner, relaxation & overnight.

DAY 18:- Pian Upe to Kampala

Today is our last day in the green belt of the Karamajongs. You wake up with rise of the sun over the plain savannah, have your last bush breakfast as you watch the camp assistants dismantle the tents & you get ready to embark on long drive to kampala which about 8hrs drive.  This is not an ordinary journey, it’s a rewarding drive which involves driving through the lush countryside dotted by amazing features of mother nature. Arrive in Kampala in the late afternoon depending on the traffic for dinner & overnight.

DAY 19:- Kampala city tour

Kampala city is a destination of its self and thus worth to encounter on Uganda safari. This is a city with a population of about 2million people and this city was built on and around 6 hills. Photographing the city on one of these hills is gives you a great art composition. Right after your Breakfast, our tour guide/driver will pick you from your hotel to visit the various cultural sites in Kampala like the kabaka palace, Bahai Temple,Namugongo Marty's Shrine and later In the evening,  Dinner and slumber at your hotel.

DAY 20:- Kampala walking safari

This is our last day on the safari and we get to do a walking safari in Kampala as you do your shopping whilst sighting the city. Later we travel to Entebbe airport depending on your flight details!
