This 12 day Primates in hot springs mobile safari takes you through some of Uganda unique hdden gems. Camping in Kibale national park probably the park with the highest population of primates in the to track chimpanzees world and in Bwindi Impenetrable national park, home to half of the remaining giant apes to visit the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat is an adventurous experience worth a shot.

It continues to Semliki national park, the only tract of true lowland tropical forest in East Africa, hosting over 440 bird species & home to numerous Central African wildlife species. While in this park we go for a rewarding nature walk through Africa’s most ancient & bio-diverse forests, one of the few to survive the last ice age about 18,000 year ago.

The safari then proceeds to Queen Elizabeth National park to to sight a wide diversity of game in open savannah plains blending with a rewarding safari boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. Finally visit Lake Bunyonyi, a lake with 20 islands for a rewarding canoeing experience & hiking the steep terraced hills for a scenic view of the lake.

DAY 1:- Entebbe area, Camping

Upon your arrival in Uganda at Entebbe airport, your guide will pick you and give a full safari briefing and take you shopping for your safari drinks then head to your designated campsite.  Depending on your flight details, the first highlight of your safari will be a sunset boat cruise or nature walk. Camping will be Botanical gardens Entebbe at a camp-site with permanent ablutions.

DAY 2:- Entebbe to Kibale forest national park

After your early morning breakfast, embark on 5hrs drive south via Fort Portal through verdant countryside and past traditional homesteads and farms through Fort-Portal town which rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon. Arrive at your campsite with permanent ablutions in the time for your forest lunch & relax around the camp then in the evening embark on a scenic nature walk to sight the beautiful crater lakes in the region and later return to the campsite for dinner & overnight.

DAY 3:-  Chimpanzee trekking & Bigodi Swamp walk

After early breakfast you will be transferred to the briefing point before embarking on your chimpanzee trekking activity. This park is home to rare I’Hoest’s monkey, blue monkey, grey cheeked mangabey to name a few. The walk takes about 1 & half hours to 2 hours, 1 hour is at your disposal to socialize with these beautiful creatures. Later return to your campsite for relaxation & your forest lunch. In the late afternoon you head out for another amazing activity “Bigodi Swamp walk” where you will sight a varietyof rare bird species & return to your campsite for dinner & overnight.

DAY 4:- Kibale to Semliki National park

After your forest breakfast drive to Fort port to sight Amabeere caves & crater lakes.  You will visit the Amabeere ga Nnyinamwiru caves an ancient landmark with a lot of historical and cultural significance to the local people as it dates from the Chwezi era. Geographically, the caves are breast like features of stalagmites and stalactites with the seasonal Nyakasura water falls falling from their roof top. Proceed the walk to the famous Kyeganywa hill, you will be able to sight and gain the surrounding view of various crater lakes and hollows plus the overlooking views of Rwenzori Mountains. After have lunch and travel to Semliki National park with the eastern section of Ituri forest connecting Uganda with Congo. Arrive at your designated campsite in the evening for relaxation, dinner & overnight.

DAY 5:- Hot springs & Nature walk

Early this morning, grab yourself heavy breakfast with views of the canopy forest & carry with you packed lunch. After embark on a nature walk in Semliki National park to visit the hot springs where you can participate in the rare experience of boiling eggs in the bubbling pools of the hot springs. These natural springs have a geyser shooting high from an 8m wide hole at a very high temperature. On this very trail  you may identify a couple of different bird species & also identify some trees since the park is recorded to host approximately 300 tree species. Proceed your nature walk to Mungilo waterfall to sight more nature. Return to your campsite in the late afternoon for relaxation. In the evening you may opt to visit the Pygmy villages to learn about their culture. The Pygmies were the first people to arrive in Uganda about 3000yrs ago, later return to campsite for dinner & overnight.

DAY 6:- Semliki to Queen Elizabeth National park

After your morning breakfast, embark on a 5hours drive to Queen Elizabeth national park travelling on the slopes of the Rwenzori mountains. Cross the Equator before reaching the private campsite in Queen Elizabeth. Have your bush lunch and light afternoon lunch whilst watching as your tents are set up on the designated campsite with bush ablutions. After set off for 1hour Katwa explosion crater drive to view the crater lakes in Queen Elizabeth. Your will have the opportunity for some great photos on this scenic drive which will give you most rewarding scenery of the park, craters, Lake Edward and Lake George, Rwenzori mountains to name a few. Later return to your campsite for your dinner and a 2 hours evening game drive in Uganda’s prime game viewing region to stand a chance of nocturnal animals like the bush buck, Lions e.t.c, buffaloes, elephant herds. Then return to campsite for overnight.

DAY 7:- Game drives & Kazinga Channel boat cruise.

Before sunrise, rise up for your bush breakfast at the camp and then go for an early morning game drive in the Kashenyi sector remarkable for it’s great game like Elephants, buffaloes, bush pigs, Uganda Kobs to name a few. Return to campsite for relaxation, bush lunch and light afternoon lunch. Get ready to embark on a safari  boat cruise on Kazinga Channel for 2 hours & then in the late afternoon return to campsite for dinner & get set for a 2hrs evening game drive then return to campsite for overnight.

DAY 8:- Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi Impenetrable national park.

Wake up with a sunrise & have your bush breakfast as you watch the camp assistants dismantle the tents & you get ready to embark on a drive to Bwindi the home of half of the remaining mountain gorillas through the Ishasha sector. This sector is well known for the beautiful tree climbing lions. There will be a picnic bush lunch with light afternoon lunch en-route & arrive late afternoon to a private campsite with permanent ablutions. Relax around the camp, later dinner will be served & overnight.

DAY 9:- Gorilla trekking

This is a big long waited day when you will come a cross the endangered gentle giants, mountain gorillas that only exist in Uganda, DRC & Rwanda. After an early morning forest breakfast take with you packed lunch & gather at the briefing point then you will later  head to the forest in search of the giant apes. This is one of the best activities that you will never forget and is for 2-8 hrs depending on the movement of the gorillas. It involves hiking descending down the valleys & maneuvering the way through thicket before coming in direct contact with gorillas. One hour is at your disposal to maximize your experience with the gorillas, socialize and gaze at them. The experience is rewarding & breathtaking, Later return to camp for relaxation, dinner & overnight

DAY 10:- Bwindi to Lake Bunyonyi

This our last day in the gorilla home “Bwindi”, you will enjoy our forest morning breakfast then travel to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale. This drive lasts for about 2-3hrs and you will reach in afternoon, relax, have lunch & you will then embark on a hike through surrounding hills in order to gain a scenic view of this beautiful lake.  The name Bunyonyi in the local language means small birds & the lake was named so because there is a plenty of small birds around the lake,  the  landscape around the lake is made up of steep slopes covered with lush green vegetation protruding from the water’s edge. You can get to sight some of the 7 islands in the lake. The lake is the second deepest lake in Africa and one of the few lakes in the country considered safe to swim as it is bilharzias free. Return to your campsite for relaxation, dinner & overnight.

DAY 11:- Lake Bunyonyi to Kampala

After your breakfast you will embark on a drive back to Kampala with lunch en-route. Stop at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers en route where you will able to watch the ceremonial drums being crafted using methods passed down through generations. There will also be time to stop at the equator for some photography. You arrive Kampala in the early evening depending on traffic at your hotel for dinner & overnight.

DAY 12:- Kampala walking safari

This is our last day on the safari and we get to do a walking safari in Kampala as you do your shopping whilst sighting the city. Later we travel to Entebbe airport depending on your flight details!
